Steel Strapping

Steel Strapping
Steel Strapping is the strongest of all strapping materials and should be used with products with sharp, rigid edges, when high tensile strength and low elongation is needed. Some of the industries that use steel strapping are construction, agriculture and military. When lightweight and more economical strapping is desired, we also provide Polyester Strapping and Poly Strapping.

Strapping Application Guide

This guide is to help you determine what type of strapping you will need for your application. The three basic types of strapping are steel, polyester and polypropylene.

Types of Strapping

Steel Strapping:

  • The strongest of all strapping
  • Characteristics: Low elongation, High strength retention
  • Seal: Mechanical seals, notch joint seals
  • Applications: For use with sharp objects like pallets of brick, where low flexibility is desired. Also, use in applications with extreme heat.

Polypropylene Strapping:

  • The most commonly used and least expensive strapping
  • Characteristics: Lightweight, High elongation, Low retained tension, Easy to apply by hand or by machine, Easy to dispose, Recyclable
  • Seal: Buckles, seals, heat seals or welds
  • Applications: Light palletizing, bundling, carton closing

Polyester Strapping (PET):

  • The most rigid of all strapping that replaces Steel Strapping
  • Characteristics: Most rigid, Less elongation than Polypropylene, Long retained tension, Easy to apply by hand or by machine, Easy to recycle
  • Seal: Buckles, seals, heat seals or welds
  • Applications: Use on heavy duty loads where high tension and strength is needed; Heavy and rigid pallet loads, replacement of steel strapping
