Clear Plastic Dust Collector Bags

Clear poly bags are the "gold standard" for lower collection units because they eliminate the guesswork of when to empty the machine. Interplas specifically manufactures these in heavy-duty 4 mil and 6 mil thicknesses.

Pros:

• Visibility: The 100% virgin LDPE resin is ultra-clear, allowing you to see exactly when the bag is full. This prevents overfilling, which can backup and damage your primary filters.
• Small Particle Capture: Unlike porous cloth, plastic captures even the smallest dust particles, ensuring that fine dust doesn't leak back into your shop air.
• Mess-Free Disposal: You can simply tie off the bag and toss it. This prevents the "dust cloud" effect common when shaking out a canvas bag.

Cons:

• Puncture Vulnerability: Even at a 6 mil industrial strength, sharp metal shards or jagged wood chunks can occasionally cause a tear.
• One-Way Airflow: These bags are non-porous. They must be used as bottom collection bags only; they cannot function as top filters because they don't allow air to pass through.

Canvas & Cloth Dust Collector Bags

Canvas bags are traditionally used for the upper filtration stage, though some older systems use them for the bottom as well.

Pros:

• Air Permeability: These bags are designed to breathe, allowing air to exhaust while trapping dust.
• Extreme Durability: Woven fabric is naturally more tear-resistant than plastic, making it a better choice if you are frequently vacuuming up sharp debris.
• Washable: You can blow them out or wash them to restore airflow once the fabric pores become "blinded" by fine dust.

Cons:

• The "Seepage" Issue: Fine dust often escapes through the weave of standard canvas. This "bleeding" can lead to a thin layer of dust settling on everything in your shop.
• Difficult to Monitor: Without a built-in window, you have to manually check the bag by feeling it or unhooking it, which often leads to accidental overflows.
